Gaining Independence from Foothills
Why are we seeking independence from Foothills? Click here to read why, with answers to common questions. The general issue is that almost all Foothills facilities are too far away for it to make sense for us to pay for them (they themselves called us a "revenue center"); statistics show we don't use their facilities; we only receive 23¢ on the dollar in local services (vs. a more typical minimum value of 80¢ on the dollar); they don't adequately maintain the one park we do have; and they won't listen to us to redress our inequity. On June 22nd, 2011, we attempted a formal mediation session with Foothills, and we were again unsuccessful in getting them to allocate a fair amount of our tax dollars to the upkeep of our Estates park. It is likely they will be seeking a tax increase in 2012, which will only magnify the inequity. Independence is the necessary course.
Most residents have now signed. If you would like to assist your neighborhood and also reduce your property taxes, you must send in the form for your property. If you don't sign, you will continue paying taxes to Foothills even if all your neighbors are excluded.
If you lost the petition document that was mailed to you, you may print a blank one here. Please fill in the name(s) of the legal owners of the property, the owner's mailing address, legal description (see below) and property address. We need all owners' signatures NOTARIZED (sorry, it's the law) and mail it to: Mesa View Estates Homeowners Association, c/o Association & Community Management, 9250 W. 5th Ave., Lakewood, CO 80226 .
Where to find a notary: Notaries are available in most banks. The HOA office has a notary (call to ensure they'll be on site). Several of your board members and neighbors are notaries. If you call the HOA office we can arrange for someone to come to your house.
